Out and About

The Marton Arms is an ideal base to explore the beautiful surrounding areas of the Yorkshire Dales, The Lake District, The Forest of Bowland and Morecambe Bay.

Yorkshire Dales

There is something for everyone in the Yorkshire Dales. For the sightseeing there are pretty Dales Villages and Small Market towns oozing with Character. Or for the more active, stunning walks, cycling and caving are available right from the door.

There are more walks than you can shake a trekking pole at! The best source of information is to buy the ordnance survey OL2 map.
There are pretty riverside walks  or for the mountain baggers the Yorkshire 3 Peaks of Ingleborough, Whernside and Penyghent are in our back garden.
The area around the Marton Arms is a Mecca for cavers, there are show caves for families and a myriad of pot holes in the area for the more experienced caver.
Whatever time of year it is, there's always a great reason to visit the Yorkshire Dales ... with so much to see and do ... all year round

Ingleton

Ingleton is our local village, it has gift shops, outdoor shops, butchers, cafés, convenience stores and much more. There is a seasonal heated outdoor swimming pool, a climbing wall, a fantastic play area for the kids, the famous waterfalls walk and so much more. There always seems to be something happening in the village!

The Yorkshire Three Peaks

The Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge is a 25 mile over the famous three peaks of Penyghent (694 meters), Whernside (736 meters) and Ingleborough (723 meters).  Why not use The Martin Arms as your base, after taking on this challenge you will love the hospitality we offer with great pub food, fine ales and comfortable accommodation.  We are just a 30 minute drive from Horton in Ribblesdale, where many of the charity organised 3 peaks challenge events start from.

The Lake District National Park

Less than an hours drive away is the Lake District National Park, with its majestic mountains, tranquil valleys and pretty lakes. Famed for Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. The lake district can get pretty crowded, so for a more relaxing break why not join us at the Marton Arms

Forest of Bowland

Just a short drive away is the Forest of Bowland with its well signed walking and mountain bike routes.  There is a mountain bike centre with a information and cafe.  The Mountain Bike routes are suitable for anyone from family rides to the expert rider with clearly signed trails.

Morecambe Bay

A vist to Silverdale or one of the other pretty villages on the coast of Morecambe bay is very diverse from the yorkshire Dales yet only a half hour drive from the Marton Arms.  Here you will see stunning sunsets. On route to Morecambe bay is the birdwatchers haven of Leighton Moss (as featured on BBC springwatch).

Spring

Our local waterfalls look spectacular, especially during and after heavy rain, Ingleton Waterfalls is a short walk from The Marton Arms but there are also many other more waterfalls cascades in the area including Aygarth falls and Hawdraw Falls.
From March through to the end of April, the fields are full of lambs and you can see them playing in the meadows all around the area

Cute lamb outside the Marton Arms Country Inn and Hotel.
